ADGL · Developed by GBSN Research

Govern knowledge. Govern analysis. Govern consequences.

The AI Data Governance Layer is an open working specification developed and maintained by GBSN Research for governing what information may participate in AI-enabled computation, how it may be analyzed and what consequences may follow.

ADGL

AI Data Governance Layer

Knowledge → Analysis → Consequence

One governance trajectory, with separate authority boundaries at every stage.

KNOWLEDGE

What information may be used?

Define what may participate, in what capacity, with which authority, provenance and constraints.

ANALYSIS

What may be done with it?

Define the models, tools, providers, regions and analytical methods that are eligible.

CONSEQUENCE

What may happen?

Keep informational output, human-owned decisions and machine-executable actions as separate authority boundaries.

Why it exists

AI introduces questions that storage and access controls cannot answer alone.

ADGL provides an implementation-neutral governance framework for defining policies across multiple provenances, contexts and uses: which knowledge may influence a process, what analysis is permitted, who owns a decision and whether a machine may act.

You do not have to use GBSN software. ADGL is intended to be implementation-neutral.

Status and independence

ADGL is a public working research specification maintained by GBSN Research. It is not yet a stakeholder-ratified standard, independent certification scheme or production security boundary.

The eight public cases are constructed fixtures. Public test results are producer-authored evidence rather than independent validation.

Transparency

Research and commercial interest

GBSN Research also offers KEE, a proprietary, platform-agnostic service for defining, managing, distributing, implementing and monitoring governed policies within an organization’s perimeter. KEE can operationalize policies expressed through ADGL, but organizations do not need KEE to adopt or implement ADGL, and KEE does not define normative ADGL conformance. The GBSN Data Orchestration Suite is available on request, giving GBSN a commercial and reputational interest in ADGL adoption.
